During our program, we worked together with a local NGO that had been in a total deadlock for two years; the board was unfit for duty, the organization was on the verge of breakdown. Our efforts and enthusiasm encouraged the members of the board to rethink the situation – it was just the impulse they needed to get their act together. Three months later, an entire new board was installed and the organization is
making unbelievable progress.
What touched me was that merely by giving what was in us, we already made an immense difference. Back home, this inspired me to focus my energy in the right direction. I started to involve other AEGON staff members in a CSR program. The support for this program is overwhelming. We are working on orchestrating our support for various foundations, and together with Better Future we are now working on the theme of micro-insurances.
